Born and brought up in rural South Wales, nature has always played a major role in my work.

When studying art and design at university, I worked with a range of different media including fine art, textiles, metalwork and ceramics. I went on to teach art and design for several years before deciding to concentrate on developing my own artistic career. Influenced by impressionism, I try to bring such elements as Seurat's pointillism and van Gogh's dynamic skies into my paintings. These I fill with movement, vitality, and of course, colour. Inspired by the beauty that is right on my doorstep, I enjoy working mostly in acrylics, as this medium allows me to develop richly coloured compositions that, with the added use of impasto, create depth and texture.

I have a passion for colour and I love to portray my natural environment as a slightly impressionistic, vibrantly coloured, atmospheric world.

I am currently exhibiting a selection of my work at The King Street Gallery, Carmarthen.
